Care is taken to provide training in various skills so that
the street and working children are equipped to be
integrated in the mainstream society.
Children’s Development Bank (CDB)
It is an instructional institution meant to develop
entrepreneurial and management skills among street and
working children. CDB was founded by Butterflies, New Delhi
and Jeeva Jyothi is a partner organization promoting this in
Tamil Nadu. It is an alternative cooperative banking system,
managed completely by children. Savings account, loan
schemes called ‘Welfare advance’ and book keeping are fully
managed by the children themselves. CDB enables economic
empowerment of street children.
Children’s clubs
provide motivation and awareness on issues of child rights
and empower the children to educate their friends and
parents. 122 such Clubs are functioning in the three areas.

Children’s Parliament
To educate children on their rights and responsibilities,
Children’s Parliament meets once in a week in each area.
They discuss local problems and chalk out policies and
programmes to tackle them. It is a micro level democratic
exercise for children.
Other capacity building measures include training in Media,
Journalism, Radio broadcasting, Making of a Documentary film
and News paper.
