By our constant advocacy and lobbying through various
networks and forums, the government of India had issued a
notification in October 2006 banning employment of children
as domestics, in eateries, resorts and recreational centers.
Employment of children in hazardous industries is already
prohibited.
Another landmark achievement of the voice of the people is
the Constitutional Amendment in 2005 making ‘free and
compulsory primary education’ a fundamental right.
